The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) launched an advocacy campaign on Capitol Hill to lobby for Congress members who have supported community banks.
Specifically, the advocacy campaign targets 13 members of the House and Senate who have supported pro-community economic growth legislation, including the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act (S. 2155), which was signed into law this spring. ICBA is encouraging these members of Congress who have been pro-community banks to continue their support of local communities.
“ICBA’s politics is community banking,” ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey said. “We are bipartisan and support policies and policymakers that support the nation’s more than 5,000 community banks and the communities and customers they serve nationwide. The passage of S. 2155 was a major victory for every Main Street town—urban, suburban and rural—that’s served by a community bank. ICBA and community banks want to increase awareness of the critical role these members of Congress have served in furthering local lending, economic growth and job creation in their home districts.”
With this campaign, ICBA is delivering tens of thousands of mailings in 13 states and congressional districts that spotlight the critical role of these 13 members of Congress. The members of Congress include Sens. Mike Crapo (R-ID), Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), and Dean Heller (R-NV) and Reps. Andy Barr (R-KY), Lou Correa (D-CA), Sean Duffy (R-WI), Bill Foster (D-IL), French Hill (R-AR), Bill Huizenga (R-MI), Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO), Patrick McHenry (R-NC), Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), and David Scott (D-GA).
