AIA’s Goldberg appointed to Maryland House Working Group on Punitive Damages

The Maryland House Working Group on Punitive Damages recently appointed Eric Goldberg, mid-Atlantic region vice president for the American Insurance Association (AIA), to serve with the group.

The group is tasked with reviewing the current structure of punitive damages in the state of Maryland and determines whether changes are needed to the existing rules. AIA is the only trade association involved with the Maryland House Working Group.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent AIA on the Punitive Damages Working Group,” Goldberg said. “Over the last decade we’ve seen a great deal of legislation on the issue of punitive damages. I look forward to working with Delegate Dumais and representatives of the Working Group on bringing clarity to Maryland’s public policy governing punitive damages.”
The American Insurance Association is a leading property casualty insurance trade organization in America, representing approximately 325 insurers that issue more than $127 billion in premiums each year. AIA member companies offer a variety of insurance types including auto insurance, commercial property and liability coverage for small business, workers’ compensation, homeowners’ insurance, medical malpractice coverage and product liability insurance.
