Minneapolis-based U.S. Bancorp secured top place on a ranking of superregional banks on Fortune’s list of the world’s most admired companies in 2017.
U.S. Bancorp, with $446 billion in assets, has topped the list for seven consecutive years, the company said on Thursday.
U.S. Bancorp also ranked in the top 10 among companies across all industries in four of Fortune’s nine attributes of reputation. The bank placed third in the Quality of Management category, second in Long-Term Investment Value, second in Use of Corporate Assets and sixth in Financial Soundness.
“Today, I’m especially proud of our employees,” said Andy Cecere, president and chief operating officer of U.S. Bancorp. “Our recognition from Fortune as one of the world’s most admired companies is the result of their hard work and commitment to being the most trusted choice for our customers, our shareholders and our communities.”
U.S. Bancorp ranked ahead of other superregional banks, including PNC Financial Services Group, Northern Trust and BB&T Corp. on the Fortune list.
Among superregional banks, U.S. Bancorp ranked No. 1 in the majority of Fortune’s attributes of reputation: Quality of Management, Social Responsibility, Innovation, Quality of Products/Services, People Management, Use of Corporate Assets, Financial Soundness and Long-Term Investment Value.
“We’re honored and humbled by this recognition and to be alongside companies known across the globe for doing the right thing, looking to the future and making the world a better place,” said Richard Davis, chairman and CEO of U.S. Bancorp. “The credit goes to our employees and the culture of integrity they bring to work every single day.”
