The results that yielded Finance and the Great Reshuffle are from the survey conducted between August and November 2022, including responses from 270 finance professionals working primarily in controlling, reporting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and accounting.

According to the survey organizers, respondents came mainly from large companies in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Austria, and Romania, representing sectors including business services, technologies, finance, and manufacturing.

“The Great Reshuffle brings significant risks to companies, and employers should draw strong conclusions from our research,” AICPA and CIMA Europe Regional Director Jakub Bejnarowicz said. “Taking business performance to the next level requires the right people — the most valuable strategic asset. And the competition for talent is getting fiercer. So, as our report shows: workers need to be given opportunities to innovate and automate their pain points; finance teams must be equipped with the skills necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing environment; and companies should create a sense of belonging and empowerment with their employees if they want to retain talent and drive their organization forward.”

Per the analysis, finance professionals are moving roles with increased frequency and feel the need to acquire new skills and adjust to the modern business world, with 24 percent noting they want to change their jobs within a year, while another 29 percent are not ruling out the option.

According to AICPA and CIMA, other findings include 52 percent of respondents indicating employee turnover within their organizations is increasing, and 54 percent maintain it is easy or very easy to find a new job.
