Senate Banking Committee seeking proposals from public to increase growth

The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs is seeking legislative proposals from the public until April 14 that are designed to increase economic growth.

Committee Chairman Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Ranking Member Sherrod Brown (D-OH) have created an online process for proposals that will help consumers, market participants, and financial companies responsibly participate in the economy in more effectively.

“We welcome input from all interested stakeholders to that end,” Crapo said.

The submissions should clearly identify three to five priority proposals that will promote economic growth and/or enable consumers, market participants and financial companies to better participate in the economy.

“After seeing the impact of the financial crisis on Americans, I look forward to proposals that will create real economic growth and jobs, and help reverse years of stagnant wages and widening inequality,” Brown added.

Each proposal should include a brief description of the proposal, its impact on economic growth, an explanation of the ability of consumers, market participants and financial companies to participate in the economy, legislative language, and other background material as appropriate.

Electronic copies of the proposals can be submitted to committee staff at submissions@banking.senate.gov.
