The Securities and Exchange Commission announced Wesley R. Bricker will succeed James Shnurr as Chief Accountant.
Since 2015, Mr. Bricker served as Deputy Chief Accountant for the accounting group until July 2016 where he became the Interim Chief Accountant.
“I look forward to continuing to promote improvements to financial reporting, including monitoring that the objectives of existing and new accounting and auditing standards meet the needs of investors for useful and reliable financial reporting information,” said Bricker.
As Chief Accountant, Mr. Bricker will be in charge of assisting the SEC with discharging oversight of the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. He will serve as the principal advisor to the Commission on accounting and auditing matters. Mr. Bricker will also lead the Commission’s Office of the Chief Accountant.
