Retailers association supports National Labor Relations Board nominees

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) came out in support of two new nominees for the National Labor Relations Board, Marvin Kaplan and William Emanuel.

“The Retail Industry Leaders Association fully supports the nominations of Marvin Kaplan and Bill Emanuel as each of them has demonstrated throughout their careers to have a deep knowledge of the law and an ability to balance the interests of employees and employers,” RILA’s Vice President of Government Affairs Evan Armstrong stated in a letter to Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Ranking Member Patricia Murray (D-WA).

Armstrong said a full and complete NLRB is one of the top priorities as for RILA as its members grabble with the impacts of board decisions in Specialty Healthcare, Browning-Ferris, as well as several other policy cases.

“It is critical that the board is made whole so it can begin the important work to interpret the law in a way that supports innovation, growth, and opportunity rather than tying the hands of the largest private job creators in the country,” Armstrong said. “We strongly encourage the Senate to move swiftly and look forward to a smooth and seamless confirmation process.”
