The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) named two new deputy comptrollers for large bank supervision on Wednesday.
Kevin Greenfield, an acting deputy comptroller for large bank supervision since August, and Robert Barnes, a veteran national bank examiner, were promoted to the positions, and were lauded by senior OCC officials for their breadth of experience.
“Robert and Kevin have each had distinguished careers at the OCC and are recognized throughout the agency for their diverse experience, considerable expertise, and strong leadership,” said Senior Deputy Comptroller for Large Bank Supervision Greg Coleman. “Their extensive backgrounds and knowledge of the industry bolsters the OCC’s leadership of our large bank portfolio and further advances the agency’s strategic goals.”
Greenfield served for more than 25 years as a national bank examiner, and was previously Director for Bank Information Technology and Deputy Comptroller for Operational Risk Policy at OCC. He returned to large bank supervision to take on the acting deputy comptroller position. Greenfield was responsible for overseeing the development of policy and examination procedures for operational risk, bank information technology, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure resilience, payments systems, and corporate and risk governance in his prior role, and has represented OCC on several interagency groups, officials said.
For more than 30 years, Barnes also served as a national bank examiner. Having supervised banks of all sizes with domestic and international operations, he currently serves at the Examiner-in-Chief of Bank of America. Barnes’ experience includes leading highly complex commercial credit examinations and evaluating the quality of bank risk management programs. Barnes has also held leadership positions within OCC’s Peer Review Work Groups and interagency efforts, and is an advocate for leadership development within his teams.
