The new organization, which was established in February 2018, also established a Compliance and Regulatory Advisory Council to spearhead legislative and social measures.

Councilman previously served as president of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) from 2014 to 2015.

“Filling out these leadership positions is a major initial step in fortifying AIME as a strong, high-powered organization for independent mortgage professionals,” Anthony Casa, founder of AIME, said. “We’re not a fledgling startup. AIME has some of the top legal and compliance minds from some of the biggest players in the wholesale industry, and will shine as the premier membership organization for mortgage experts.”

AIME named seven people to serve as members of its Compliance and Regulatory Advisory Council, which will guide the association in industry compliance issues. The appointees include Michael Barone, managing partner at Abrams, Garfinkel, Margolis, Bergson, LLP; Matthew Cronin, vice president of regulatory compliance at Flagstar Bank; Ronald Gapp, general counsel and compliance officer at PRMG; G. Bradley Hargrave, shareholder at Medlin & Hargrave; Jeffrey Midbo, deputy general counsel and chief compliance officer at United Wholesale Mortgage; Bonnie Nachamie, partner at Bonnie S. Nachamie, P.C.; and Wayne Watkinson, principal at Offit Kurman.

AIME mission is to provide a forum for independent mortgage experts, such as brokers, loan originators, and processors.
