Mastercard has introduced a new suite of services for mobile network operators (MNO) that facilitate fast, simple and secure digital payment across all devices and channels.
The new package of digital payments services allows mobile network operators to build on Masterpass to accept digital payments. Also, products like direct carrier billing and QR-based payments can help them monetize existing telecommunications assets.
Further, the new package lets businesses identify new ways of working based on proven test and modeling of existing data.
“Research has shown that consumers want real-time access to convenient and unique experiences through the technology already in their hands,” Kiki Del Valle, senior vice president, commerce for every device at Mastercard, said. “Through these services, Mastercard and our MNO partners are enabling innovative, secure and easy ways for consumers and businesses to pay, engage, build and grow – no matter where they are in the world.”
This new suite of services is designed to support mobile network operators in efforts to evolve their operations and become a more complete digital player.
For example, Vodafone Ukraine, a leading mobile network provider, uses Masterpass One-Click Payment Solution to provide customers a digital way to pay for airtime top-up.
Further, Digicel Group in the Caribbean has combined money transfer services with a companion prepaid card program to let customers send and receive money from friends and family.
Additionally, Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan launched a digital “Hami Wallet” that is currently accepted on all Mastercard contactless terminals.
