FDIC’s Consumer News tackles frequently asked questions on financial products, services

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s (FDIC) Winter 2017 edition of Consumer News features tips and answers to questions from consumers about a range of financial services issues, including recent FDIC guidance related to deposit account errors.

The latest issue, which came out this week, discusses security and privacy concerns, like how readers should handle an email that appears to be from their bank and asks for personal information. It also features an article that helps consumers understand their options if they are turned down for a checking account.

It also informs readers what to do if a credit card bill shows a charge they did not make as well as including where individuals can go for help if they cannot access funds on their prepaid card.

The latest issue of Consumer News discusses how consumers can determine if their deposit accounts are fully insured and features an overview of “EDIE,” the FDIC’s simple online tool for estimating deposit insurance coverage.
