Officials said the FDIC would post a new question and answer on a different banking topic each weekday at www.FDIC.gov/ncpw. The sessions will cover mobile banking, credit and debit card security precautions, safe deposit boxes, credit reports and debt collectors, as well as other consumer information accessible for reference year-round.

The FDIC’s webpage will also feature quick links to several of the agency’s online resources for consumers as well as small businesses such as EDIE, the FDIC’s Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator that assists consumers and businesses in determining their deposit insurance coverage for each FDIC-insured bank where they have deposit accounts; BankFind, a directory to locate an FDIC-insured institution and learn what happened to a bank that changed names or no longer exists; and the Customer Assistance Form, which is used to submit a question to the FDIC or a complaint regarding a financial institution.

FDIC officials said the organization insures deposits at the nation’s banks and savings associations while promoting the safety and soundness of institutions by identifying, monitoring and addressing risks to which they are exposed.
