Atlanta Federal Reserve ends year with several promotions

The Atlanta Federal Reserve recently promoted Michael Williams to senior vice president and head of Operations for Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS).

Previously, Williams was vice president and head of Retail Products for FRFS at the Atlanta Fed.

In this new role, Williams will oversee all functions that drive payment business line operations. This includes supporting the daily processes for Check, FedACH, Fedwire Funds, Fedwire Securities, FedNow, and the National Settlement Service.

Williams has been with the Atlanta Fed since 2007. He began his career with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City in 2002. There, he held positions of increasing responsibility in check automation services before joining the Atlanta Fed’s Check 21 Business Operations Office in 2007.

After that, at the Atlanta Fed, Williams was promoted to operations director in the Retail Payments Office in 2011, followed by assistant vice president in 2014. Then, he was promoted to his most recent role in 2020.

Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from Park University in Missouri.

In addition, the Atlanta Fed made some other moves. It recently promoted Jennifer Gibilterra to vice president and corporate secretary from her previous position as assistant vice president and corporate secretary. Further, Robert Weatherton, assistant general auditor in Internal Audit, has been promoted from assistant vice president to vice president.

Gibilterra will take on added responsibilities within the People, Culture, and Engagement Division, leading the bank’s efforts to strengthen and expand organizational agility across the Sixth District. Gibilterra earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and philosophy from Loyola University.

Weatherton will continue to oversee all District audit activities, manage department operations, and support the general auditor in fulfilling Bank and System responsibilities. Weatherton holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from East Tennessee State University.
