The American Bankers Association recently named Gene Miles of First Farmers Bank & Trust Company and Kansas State University professor Barry Flinchbaugh as the recipients of two prestigious awards that recognize significant contributions to agricultural banking.
“We are delighted to present these prestigious awards to Gene and Barry,” Steve Apodaca, senior vice president, ABA’s Center for Agricultural and Rural Banking said. “Gene’s dedication to ag banking as well as his community set a great example for bankers across the country. Barry’s depth of knowledge and unique style have made him a highly recognized expert in the ag community.”
Miles, the president and CEO of First Farmers Bank and Trust Company, is receiving the Bruning Award for outstanding achievement throughout 35 years of leadership and service, having provided credit and guidance to farmers and rural businesses across the U.S. First Farmers Bank and Trust employs nearly 400 staff in Indiana and Illinois, serving more than 50,000 clients while remaining active in the local community.
Flinchbaugh has served as a faculty member at Kansas State University since 1971, and has been recognized by his institution for excellence in university instruction on three separate occasions. He has participated in numerous national task forces, boards, and advisory groups, while maintaining an active speaking and publication schedule.
