AIA hires new vice president of public affairs

The American Insurance Association (AIA) recently hired Maggie Seidel as vice president for public affairs, where she will lead AIA’s media relations and grassroots advocacy operations.

Seidel has nearly a decade of policy and communications experience in both the private and public sectors. Prior to joining AIA, Seidel was a senior public relations & media strategist for the Charles Koch Institute. She previously served as assistant vice president of media relations and communications for the Consumer Bankers Association and communications director for Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ).

“We are delighted to have Maggie join AIA. With her extensive policy background and keen understanding of media relations, she is an ideal fit to lead AIA’s public affairs department,” AIA President & CEO Leigh Ann Pusey said. “Maggie is a strategic thinker who comprehends the invaluable role communications plays in our advocacy efforts as we strive to accomplish our member’s public policy objectives.”

Seidel earned a Master’s Degree in Economics from George Mason University, a Master’s Degree in Elections & Campaign Management from Fordham University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Villanova University.

“I am honored to be joining AIA’s world-class team,” Seidel said. “For more than 150 years, AIA has been the leading voice for property-casualty insurers, and I am excited to continue this tradition.”
