The Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Strategic Hub for Innovation and Financial Technology (FinHub) will host a public forum in May focusing on distributed ledger technology (DLT) and digital assets.
The forum, which serves as the second such endeavor hosted by the agency, will feature panelists from industry and academia and designed to foster greater communication and understanding around issues involving DLT and digital assets.
Initial coin offerings, digital asset platforms, DLT innovations and the manner in which technologies impact investors and the markets are among some of the topics expected to be discussed during the sessions.
The forum will be held at the SEC’s Washington D.C. headquarters on May 31, open to the public and webcast live via the SEC’s website. More information on the agenda and participants will be published in the coming weeks.
FinHub, which was launched last October, provides a portal for industry and the public to engage directly with SEC staff on innovative ideas and technological developments and publicizes information regarding the SEC’s activities and initiatives involving FinTech on the FinHub page. It also engages with the public through publications and events, including a FinTech Forum focusing on distributed ledger technology and digital assets planned for 2019 and acts as a platform and clearinghouse for SEC staff to acquire and disseminate information and FinTech-related knowledge within the agency.
