The OCC is particularly interested in these eight topics: the regulatory landscape of AI/machine learning (ML); potential bias and the disparate impacts from the use of AI and ML in lending; the risk of AI/ML in perpetrating fraud, algorithmic bias, and misinformation; the potential risks that AI poses to financial stability; the impacts of algorithmic underwriting and appraising; developing trustworthy AI and alignment frameworks; the use of AI/ML for fraud detection, prevention, and operational enhancement processes; and the use of AI to understand consumer financial behavior and decision-making, and the implications of the use of AI in these settings.

All papers must be original and unpublished.

Those who are interested should submit papers via email. If entrants are interested in acting as a discussant, they should indicate their interest in their submission email.

The OCC will notify the authors of selected papers by April 1. The authors will be invited to present their papers on June 6 to an audience comprised of OCC staff and academic and government researchers. Papers can be presented virtually or at OCC headquarters in Washington, D.C.
