Kirsten Mork has been promoted to staff director for the U.S. House of Representatives Financial Services Committee, replacing Shannon McGahn.
“Since I became Chairman in 2013, Kirsten has done a superb job as the committee’s deputy staff director and serves as an indispensable adviser to me and members of the committee,” committee chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) said.
“She has a deep understanding of financial policy and the legislative process, and possesses a strategic mindset that has informed some of the Committee’s greatest accomplishments. As one of my longest-serving and most dedicated aides, I have witnessed firsthand Kirsten’s loyalty, strength of character and commitment to conservative principles, and I know these qualities will serve the committee well,” Hensarling said.
Mork has served as Hensarling’s financial services policy adviser and legislative director. When Hensarling was elected chairman of the Financial Services Committee in 2013, Mork was hired as the committee’s deputy staff director.
“I am deeply humbled by the Chairman’s trust in me and look forward to serving him, our Committee members and staff in this new role,” Mork said.
She began her career in Washington serving on the staff of Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL) as a legislative assistant covering financial services issues. She also served in the same role on the staff of Rep. Tom Price (R-GA).
Outgoing staff director Shannon McGahn is leaving the committee to pursue a new opportunity.
