Valley National Bancorp, the holding company of Wayne, New Jersey-based Valley National Bank, announced several key leadership changes this week including the appointment of Ira Robbins as president of Valley National Bank.
“Mr. Robbins will work closely with the management team and the board, while overseeing many business units of the bank including the consumer bank, credit division, information technology, bank operations and all financial areas,” said Gerald Lipkin, chairman and CEO of Valley National Bank. “We are confident of Ira’s capacity to oversee these critical areas of our bank, and direct the execution of Valley’s strategic initiatives,” said Lipkin, who had also held the title of president prior to Robbins appointment.
Also, Rudy Schupp was named president of Valley National Bancorp and chief banking officer of Valley National Bank. “Mr. Schupp will also be responsible to work with the management team and board in overseeing opportunities related to growth, strategy and shareholder relations for our bank holding company. As chief banking officer of Valley National Bank, he will be responsible for commercial, mortgage and retail lending, as well as trust and wealth management. Rudy is a talented leader and has broad knowledge of the banking industry.”
Valley National Bancorp also announced the retirement of Peter Crocitto, senior executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective Feb. 28.
