The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) has released its Issues of Focus for 2022, with officials outlining flood insurance, tax issues, and crop insurance as priorities.
“In consultation with PIA members across the country, we have developed these 2022 issues of focus,” PIA Vice President of Government Relations Jon Gentile said. “While these items are our top priorities for 2022, PIA is always working to promote the interests of our independent agent members, wherever those interests take us.”
The focus includes PIA support for the Secure And Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act (H.R. 1996/S. 910) – protecting insurance agents and carriers from federal criminal liability while insuring with cannabis-related entities in states where cannabis is legal; the long-term reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP); the Main Street Tax Certainty Act (H.R. 1381/S. 480) permanently adopting the 20 percent tax deduction available to some S corporations; and crop insurance funding via the budget and appropriations process.
PIA was founded in 1931 and serves as a national trade association representing member insurance agents and employees selling and servicing varied insurance plans while specializing in automobile, home, and business coverage.
