The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to investor protection and market integrity, recently appointed four new governors to its board of governors.
The organization is overseen by a 22-member board of governors. One seat is FINRA’s CEO, 10 seats are designated for industry members and 12 seats are designated for public members. The board appoints public governors based on candidates the Nominating Committee names. Governors are appointed or elected to three-year terms and may not serve more than two consecutive terms.
“The addition of these four distinguished leaders reflects our commitment to maintaining a board that represents the breadth and depth of experience needed to guide FINRA’s important work,” Scott Curtis, FINRA board chairman, said. “Each brings unique insights that will enhance our deliberations and help ensure that FINRA continues to fulfill its vital investor protection mission effectively.”
The new members are:
Rostin Behnam is a Distinguished Fellow at the Psaros Center for Financial Markets and Policy at Georgetown University.
Tim Carter previously served as Piper Sandler Companies chief financial officer.
Dan Gallagher is Robinhood Markets chief legal, compliance and corporate affairs officer.
Heather Traeger is Teacher Retirement System of Texas general counsel and chief compliance officer.
