Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Michael Selig recently announced that DJ Hennes will serve as Market Participants Division director.
“I am pleased to welcome DJ to the CFTC,” Selig said. “He brings a wealth of experience advising clients across the financial services industry, including CFTC intermediaries, on governance, risk, compliance, and enforcement matters. His experience with crypto assets and prediction markets will also be of tremendous value as we seek to future-proof the CFTC’s rules and regulations for these innovations.”
Hennes joins the agency from KPMG LLP where he was Financial Services Risk & Compliance Advisory Practice managing director. He previously spent 15 years at Promontory Financial Group, most recently as Capital Markets Practice for the Americas lead.

The Market Participants Division was founded in 2020. It primarily oversees derivatives market intermediaries and is organized into three branches: examinations, financial requirements, and registration & compliance. Its mission is to conduct oversight and regulation of CFTC registrants.
