Natalia Diez Riggin will take over as the Senior Advisor and Director of Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs, the agency announced Tuesday.
Riggin had served as acting director since joining the agency in January.
“I’m pleased that Natalia will continue to lead this important office and serve as our primary liaison to Congress and other federal agencies as well as state governments,” SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins said. “She has been serving the Commission effectively since January and her experience will help guide the Commission as we return to our core mission that Congress set for us.”
Prior to joining the SEC, Riggin was a senior professional staff member on the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs for U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), the committee’s chair. She has also served as deputy legislative director for U.S. Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), and as the staff director for the Economic Policy Subcommittee of the Senate Banking Committee. Earlier in her career, Riggin served as a policy aide to U.S. Sens. Mike Enzi (R-WY) and Mark Kirk (R-IL).
Riggin received a B.A. in political science and history from the University of Illinois Chicago.
