SEC appoints new Public Company Accounting Oversight Board members

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently appointed new members to the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).

The PCAOB oversees the audits of public companies and broker-dealers. It also registers public accounting firms, sets auditing standards, conducts inspections and pursues disciplinary actions.

“I am confident that this new board will usher in a new day at the PCAOB — one of sensible, efficient oversight of auditors,” SEC Chairman Paul Atkins in a statement said.

The new members are:

Demetrios Logothetis was appointed chairman. He is retired from Ernst and Young and serves on the Republic Bank of Chicago board of directors and on consultancy firm CrossCountry Consulting’s advisory council. His term ends Oct. 24, 2030.

Mark Calabria was appointed a board member. He is U.S. Office of Management and Budget associate director and chief statistician and a senior advisor to the office of the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. His term ends Oct. 24, 2027.

Kyle Hauptman was appointed a board member. He is National Credit Union Administration chairman. His term ends Oct. 24, 2029.

Steven Laughton was appointed a board member. He is board counsel to PCAOB Board Member Christina Ho. His term ends Oct. 24, 2026.
