The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) nominated Brian Stoffers, global president, debt and structured finance at CBRE, to be its vice chairman for the 2018 membership year.
He will be elected by MBA members at the Association’s 104th Annual Convention, which will be held this October in Denver, Colo.
“I have worked closely with Brian for many years at MBA and can’t think of a better leader for our industry,” MBA Chairman Rodrigo Lopez said. “Brian has been active within MBA for more than twenty years as a thought leader in the commercial/multifamily space and as a member of the MBA Board of Directors. He brings technical knowledge, leadership and vision to the role and will clearly be an asset to MBA and the industry as a whole.”
Stoffers currently serves on MBA’s board of directors and is the former chairman of MBA’s Commercial Real Estate/Multifamily Finance Board of Governors.
In 2015, he received MBA’s Commercial/Multifamily Distinguished Service Award and has served on the Association’s Affordable Rental Housing Task Force, GSE Multifamily Task Force and Risk Retention Task Force.
Stoffers been a top donor to MBA’s Opens Doors Foundation, which sponsors philanthropic activities focused on home and community support. He is also an active supporter of the Mortgage Action Alliance (MAA).
At CBRE, Stoffers oversees the Debt and Structured Finance practice which has originated approximately $216 billion in loan volumes since 2007. He has extensive experience in the origination, structuring, placement, closing and servicing of commercial real estate debt for life insurance companies, pension funds, banks, savings and loans, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FHA and Wall Street sources.
