The largest national advocacy organization for U.S. credit unions has launched a nationwide awareness campaign about credit unions’ role in the American economy.
America’s Credit Unions launched its “Once upon an American Dream” campaign to raise awareness of federal policymakers of the economic role credit unions play in communities across the country. The organization said it is committed to ensuring lawmakers, administration officials and regulators understand the impact credit unions have on people and communities, and to urge them to support policies that allow credit unions to thrive.
“Credit unions have been steadying American families and communities through every period of crisis and growth for more than a century,” Scott Simpson, president/CEO of America’s Credit Unions, said. “This campaign underscores that strong advocacy is essential to advancing the credit union mission, ensuring policymakers fully grasp what becomes possible when credit unions thrive, and what communities stand to lose when they don’t.”
The campaign will run across connected television, online video, LinkedIn, programmatic display and audio, podcast sponsorships, and direct buys aimed at key Congressional members and staff, as well as targeted executive branch members and regulators. Officials with America’s Credit Unions said the campaign focuses on the credit union movement’s historic credibility, including its 4,373 credit unions that have served members since 1909 and contribute more than $352 billion to the U.S. economy annually. The campaign will also show the stories behind that economic impact, and how policies weakening credit unions accelerate a consolidation of depository assets into the largest 100 banks across the country.
